Comfort food

Really needed comfort food last night. Got home late and was cold and tired so only potatoes would do.

Orange
Apple
Roasted veg sandwich
Crisps :-(
Banana
Tofu sausages, peas and potato wedges
Glass of red wine
Mango sorbet

But did an hour-long session at the gym, so maybe that cancelled out the crisps?

Have just been to the dentist and need two fillings - grrrrr! My teeth are so rubbish, it depresses me. I'm going to invest in an electric toothbrush and start flossing more often too.

I'm back!

And I've had a lovely time. I have a trillion emails to go through so won't have time to catch up and read everything that's going on. I haven't weighed yet and won't be returning to the gym until next week, but I really don't think it's been too bad. I am guessing a gain of around 5lb, but not the 15 I was predicting. I can still fit into my work trousers, so it can't be too bad.

I think it was because I was allowed to eat anything I wanted to, but had time to do lots and lots of walking as well. Martin and I must have walked about 10 miles every day.

We had a lovely, lovely time and I loved America. Apart from Vegas. But even that was good in a crap way.

I shall tell all the stories that Vicks mentioned over the next few days. We had a very funny time really.

The only thing that was bad was the flight home. We took off in the middle of Hurricane Jeanne and the first hour out of NYC was terrifying. The plane was very very shakey and got struck by lightning a lot. I was clutching Pancake and Martin as the tears streamed down my face saying 'We're all going to die'. Poor Martin had finger marks in his arm afterwards.

But after that it was OK.

Scoffgirl

Oh God. I feel sick at the thought of my scoffing yesterday. But it was my mum's birthday, so scoffing was in order.

Porridge with seeds, figs and syrup
Banana
Orange
Jacket spud and beans
Two mini pakoras(evil buffet leftovers)
Loads of crisps (see above)
Celery and stilton soup
Rigatoni with chard, red onion and cannelinni beans in a roasted pepper and garlic oil (cooked by me! impressive or what????)
Chocolate and banana cake
2 glasses of wine

Bleurgh, bleurgh and bleurgh...

Could only face an orange for breakfast this morning as I still feel stuffed!

Vicks

Where are you? I want to hear about Bex's visit!

Buffet crisis

Oh no, a buffet has just arrived in the office, and I've already had two mini pakoras. Stop me now!

Yesterday was OK. Even better as I spent the whole evening cooking and washing up, and not sitting down once. It's my mother's b'day today so I'm cooking her a nice meal.

Toast and fruit spread
Orange
Banana
Tomato and pepper soup
Veggie bolognaise
1 dried fig

I also did 30 minutes swimming and the usual 50 minutes walking.

Usual weekend problems

Here's the good news: I lost 3 lbs last week! Hurrah!

The bad news is that the weekend was not angelic, and I didn't do any exercise, apart from 2 hours cleaning on Saturday morning.

Friday
Porridge with figs, seeds and syrup
Sweet potato curry
Apple
Tuscan bean stew with brown roll
Baked apple and pear

Saturday
Porridge with figs, seeds and syrup
Tuscan bean stew with 1 slice bread
Apple crumble
Glass of beer
Tofu in black bean sauce; veg chow mein; boiled rice; crispy seaweed
Chocolate dairy-free ice cream

Sunday
Toast and jam
Sweet potato, carrot and butterbean soup
Piece of toast
Apple crumble
Teeny bit of madeira cake
Half a pizza, salad, potato salad (gah!)

This week, I'm going to keep up the healthy eating and do lots of exercise. I'd like to shift another 2-3lbs by Saturday.

Thursday Munchies

Was craving sweet stuff yesterday, so ate two Jaffa Cakes after my dinner. How very naughty!

2 wholemeal toast with fruit spread
Apple
Jacket potato and beans
African sweet potato stew
Brown rice
2 Jaffa Cakes (bad!)
3 green teas
1 coffee
Lots of water

Plus 30 minutes walking, and 10 minutes pushing Dave round Ikea on a wheely office chair - weeeeeeee!

A healthy-ish day

Two major achievements yesterday. I went to the pub after work, and drank only coffee and water. Then I got home late, Dave was painting the spare room, so we got a takeaway - and I managed to avoid the spring rolls etc and order something that was actually quite healthy!

Porridge with soy milk, figs, sunflower and pumpkin seeds, honey
Apple
Smoky bean and red pepper casserole
Wholemeal roll
Tofu curry; vegetable noodles; boiled rice; lettuce wrap
3 green teas
2 coffees
Lots of water

Didn't manage any exercise at all though. Boo.

Had a sneaky mid-week hop on the scales this morning and those pounds are shifting already!

Yesterday's food was OK, but I did introduce a teeny bit of chocolate into the evening's activities.

2 wholemeal toast and fruit spread
Banana
Apple
Jacket Potato and beans
Smoky bean, red pepper and spinach casserole
Slice of bread
Baked apple with four squares melted Green and Blacks
Lots of water
Green tea x 3

And I did 30 minutes swimming and 50 minutes walking too.

Have lovely days everyone!

Mrs Motivation

A good start to the week - yay!

Smoothie (soy, banana, berries)
1 wholemeal toast with fruit spread
Apple
Lentil and vegetable casserole
Banana
Pasta with pesto and roasted veg
3 green teas
2 litres water

Plus walking to station, but only one way as it was chucking it down in the morning.

I'm currently compiling my ultimate list - 30 things to do before I turn 30 - which I'm v excited about! It has lots of fitness-related challenges in it to keep me motivated and transform me into a Zest cover girl. Maybe.

I'm back

Hello! I'm back in the world of blog - and boy do I need to be. I am HUGE - 10lbs heavier than I was post-Weight Watchers and pre-wedding, so I'm on a big health kick!

Didn't have too many cream teas in Cornwall, but lots of beer and chips and cake instead. I feel very refreshed and chilled out after my holiday, but also very fat.

Started by being angelic all weekend, and am determined to shift this weight once and for all.

Goals for this week:
Drink tons of water
Do some form of exercise every day
Eat fruit every day
Go for a daily lunchtime walk (weather permitting!)

Have to it this time. Was reading back to old postings a while back, and there are just too many Mondays where I've said 'Right, new start today', then failed yet again. This time, it's for real! Hurrah!

Not that busy after all

Well, I'm being super-productive for a change, so there is time to blog after all! Hurrah!

Yesterday I felt sick all day. Couldn't work out why. Remembered I felt the same about three weeks ago and couldn't work out why then.

Anyway, I looked at my food diary and put it down to one simple thing - too much cheese! I ate cheese at every meal from Friday lunch to Sunday evening. Bleurgh and double bleurgh.

So I'm having a cheese-free healthy week to heal myself of the cheese OD.

Yesterday's food:
Maple and pecan cereal and soy milk
Aubergine and roasted pepper soup
2 slices toast
3 tofu sausages and mixed salad (sunflower sprouts, pumpkin seeds, grated carrot, tomato, cucumber)
4 squares Green and Blacks dark choc

Dave came home from work last night with a funny big cake from his Sudanese friend's wife. Plus I have brownies left from my weekend bakefest! Could be a dangerous evening!

Clothing crisis

I was sorting out my clothes for my holiday on Saturday night and thought 'I'll just try a few things on as I haven't worn them for a while' and then I did and found that I couldn't get into a dress and a couple of skirts. So on Sunday I had to go to H&M and Primark and buy cheap summer clothes.

I bought 2 skirts, a dress, a pair of trousers (bright orange) and a top. All for £60. And they range in size from 14 to 22! Wierd or what.

Anyway, was v v naughty on Friday night and went to pub, staggered home, went out with M to restaurant and had pizza and half a litre of house red then went to pub for more pints. I randomly bumped into Emma on Saturday morning in the handbag section of Debenhams and I wasn't feeling too well. I had to leave her cos I was going to be sick. I then bumped into my husband in the opticians. So I had two chance encounters in a packed town centre within half an hour of each other. Very strange.

So, lots of new clothes but I am as fat as a very, very fat thing.

Foiled again

Yesterday was all going along swimmingly and I was thinking ooh, yes, I'll be able to post a truthful blog tomorrow and not feel ashamed. And then - sabotage from husband.

Porridge with soya milk, dried fruit, nuts and seeds
Green tea x3
Apple
Nectarine
Pasta with beans, kale and squash
Chocolate ice cream at cinema

And then I phone husband on the way home from M&S and he says 'I really want one of those boxes of chinese food - you know with starters and everything in'. And that was it so:

Box of chinese food - mini spring rolls, ribs, S&S chicken, cha sui, beef in black bean sauce, singapore noodles and egg fried rice. I think the only saving grace was that there wasn't TONS of it.

And then, M went to the corner shop and came back with a whole packet of penguin biscuits. His excuse? 'I thought the animals might like some biccies for a treat'.

So Penguin biscuit x1 (but there are 5 more left!)

I'm taking a blog holiday

I am rubbish. Yesterday, instead of any proper food, I had a veggie burger and a bowl of crumble for my evening meal. Minging. I am just not in healthy mode at the moment.

So, as I have oodles to do at work next week, and then I'm off on holiday, I am taking a two-week blog holiday. So I will be away from WWBTAB until I get back on 20 September.

When I get back, I am going to be soooooooo determined to be thin and beautiful, it will be unbelievable. I will make my vows now, so everytime I eat a cream scone in Cornwall, I can justify it as I'll be so good when I get home.

From 20 September, I promise to:
*Walk or cycle absolutely everywhere (might invest in a pedometer)
*Swim at least twice a week
*Do at least one aerobics class a week
*Eat unfeasible amounts of fruit and veg
*Get my skin to glow with regular DIY facials and lots of water

Hurrah for the healthy new Emma.

Bye!

Hello

Ooh golly I am working hard today before my holiday.

Strawb and banana smoothie
Green tea x3
Piece toast with butter and blueberry jam
3 plums
Grapes
Apple
Vegetable curry with new potatoes
Packet of count on us pretzels
Piece bread with mushroom pate
Squash, bean and kale pasta with a bit of cheese on

And did 14500 steps and an hour and ten minutes in the gym. But I weighed yesterday and have put on 4lb this week due to Bank holiday exceeses. :-(

Marred by crumble

Well, tried to go swimming again this morning and it was still closed. Grrrrr.

After my holiday, I am so going on a HUGE fitness kick. And I'm actually really looking forward to it. I must be some kind of sicko.

Yesterday's food was OKish, I suppose, but marred by a last-minute crumble.

Toast and blueberry spread
Celery and blue cheese soup
Teeny bowl of cereal and soy milk (was starving after work)
Leek and roasted squash risotto with braised puy lentils (Ha! That sounds soooo posh!)
Apple and plum crumble (Ooops!)

Not bad

Summer fruit compote and yoghurt
Piece toast with blueberry jam
home made burger with potato salad and green salad (but not much)
banana
Piece bread and mushroom pate
Pork chop with kale, new potatoes and grilled tomato
Small green and black chocolate bar

And went to gym for an hour and did 13000 steps.

Good Intentions

This morning I tried to go swimming, but the pool was closed for cleaning. So I had a shower, then left again.

Yesterday's food was OK - didn't quite stick to my good intentions though.

Yoghurt with figs, sunflower and pumpkin seeds
Tomato soup and a roll
Corn on the cob
Kale and tomato pasta bake
5 squares of Green and Blacks dark choc
Glass of wine

And walked 3 miles. If only I could have resisted the wine and choc!
