The thing is...

You spend most of your life being on some kind of diet. Then you get pregnant and putting on weight is supposed to be a good thing. But when you get on the scales and find out you have gained 4lbs, it is a big shock.

I don't like it - make it stop!

Midwife says I should put on 12kg in total - that's almost 2 stone. Noooooooooooooooooo.

Anyway, must eat less cake and more good things like fruit and veg. Obv, have to gain some weight, but want to be 'all baby' as they say.

Weekend was disastrous in terms of cake. New start today though:

2 toast (HM bread with loads of seeds and goodness) and marmite
2 satsumas
Panini with houmous, cheese, roasted veggies and salad (out for lunch)
Apple
Banana
Quorn burger in a bun with sweet potato wedges
Handful of pumpkin seeds

Daily exercise: Swimming 30 minutes; walking one mile

Hurrah - a cake-free day.

OK, fessing up...

Well, I can justify the cheese as the sproglet needs calcium, but I'm not sure what kind of nutrients it is getting from me finishing off the mince pies and stollen.

Still, at least I'm exercising every day. Next week, it's more swimming and fruit and less cakeage.

Wednesday
2 toast and marmite
Orange juice
Sliver of stollen
Slice of veggie Christmas pie thingy with roasted pumpkin
Half a box of maltesers (cinema treat)
Pasta with broccoli and blue cheese sauce
Fresh carrot, apple, satsuma and ginger juice
Lots of water
Exercise: Walking to work and back (2 miles)

Thursday
Porridge with soy milk, seeds, nuts and honey
Fresh apple and carrot juice
2 slices toast with cranberry and goats cheese
Satsuma
Mince pie with cointreau cream (mmmmm, but evil)
Lentil and root veg casserole with brown rice
Teeny glass of wine (tasted like heaven in a glass)
Lots of water and tea
Exercise was 1 hour brisk walking with dog, PLUS 40 minutes swimming, so I think I can justify the mincer)

Friday
2 croissants with jam
Orange juice
Satusma
Leftover lentil and root veg casserole
Home-made and healthy-ish blueberry muffin
Jacket potato with beans and cheese
Lots of tea and water
Exercise: 40 minutes walking the dog

Must stop eating daughter's dinner!

Shreddies with blubes
Piece toast with almond butter
Mixed bean salad with 2 hard boiled eggs
2 rice cakes
2 green teas
2 normal teas
2 clementines
Daughter's small portion of veggie shepherd's pie
v small box of raisins
Cabbage with pancetta and chestnuts
v small portion of cous cous

I think I would have been fine, apart from the shepherd's pie. I hope that daughter eats her portion this lunchtime, otherwise I have a feeling it might share the same fate.

Almost Angelic

Blubes and plain yog
Banana
Clementine
Apple
Chick pea dhal and salad
sunflower seeds
2xfennel tea
2xgreen tea
2x normal tea
rice cake with slice of ham
Veggie shepherds pie with leeks (not as angelic as it sounds as I had a LOT and it was covered in cheese).

A very nice day's food and I already seem to have lost the bloated, grim feeling.

Not bad, but could do better

Yesterday evening I had:
spinach and chickpea soup
2 small slices of bread and butter
2 dates
a packet of mini ryvitas

I am currently eating blubes and yog for breakfast, so we'll see how the day progresses from here.

I do feel a bit less toxic already, which is a jolly good thing.

Crikey

It's been a long time, hasn't it? I am probably a lot heavier than I was when this blog started but I have had a baby in that time. The worst thing was that I actually gained weight after she was born because I had the appetite of a horse and I was so tired that sometimes the only thing that would get me up of the sofa was a chocolate muffin.

I have lost a bit since then, but I need to get back on the wagon after Christmas.

My resolutions are the same (but mainly to just eat less!).

I can't blog yesterday because that was New Year's Day and I was hungover and I can't really remember. I do believe I had sausage rolls for breakfast, which is always a good start to the New Year.

Today
3 cups of fennel tea
1 cup of green tea
1 cup of normal tea
a banana
2 clementines
2 v small apples
veggie balti curry
salad
2 rice cakes

and tonight I am going to have spinach and chickpea soup and that's it I hope.

New Year, Healthier Me!

Well, how many years since this blog started and I'm probably still the same weight! However, I now have the excuse of being up the duff. I don't want to pile on the pounds while I am pregnant, so I'm trying to eat healthily and sensibly. So far have gained 1lb, but expecting a big growth spurt any day now.

New Year's Resolutions are:
  • Keep up the swimming and walking
  • Start yoga
  • Have a fresh juice or smoothie every day
  • Make sure I'm getting calcium and Omegas for Mini Meep
  • Do pelvic floor exercises every day (Bleeeeeeeeee)

    Monday
    Orange juice
2 slices home-made seeded bread with marmite
Leek and potato soup; slice of home-made seeded bread
    Slice of lemon tart
    Fresh satsuma and apple juice
    Bubble and Squeak
Lots of water and redbush tea
Exercise: Walking the dog for an hour

    Tuesday
    Orange juice
1 slice of toast, beans, bit of cheese, 1 tofu sausage
    2 veg fajitas
    Miso soup
    Satsuma
Lots of water and redbush tea

And later, I'm going to have...
    Mushroom and stilton risotto
A small treat (perhaps a mince pie)

Exercise is walking to work and back (2 miles).
