Which is the best diet?
What diet plans has everyone followed in the past? I lost 16lbs with WW last year, which I found quite easy, but I got really sick of having to weigh and measure things.
After gaining about a stone a year during three years of uni, I just did my own healthy eating and fitness thing, which worked really well. I did Liz McDonald off Corrie's exercise video, and I walked absolutely everywhere. Diet-wise, I just cut out all the creamy, cheesey stuff, but I still went out for curry and pizza once a week and I drank LOTS of lager in those days too.
And when I went travelling, I had chronic diarrhea for six weeks, and I was positively waif-like!

My best diet was when I had salmonella poisoning and I was in a German hospital for a week. I couldn't eat anything and was on the loo every 10 minutes. I lost 2 stone in a week. It all went back on within a month though.
Seriously, I found cutting out dairy, eggs and wheat the easiest diet as I found my options were so limited I couldn't eat that much anyway. I also stopped drinking beer and switched to wine instead.

I've just had one of those horrible realisation. I will never lose weight through Liz McD and lager again, because I'm NEARLY 30 AND MY METABOLISM JUST DOESN'T WORK THAT WELL ANYMORE. Oh god. I feel faint.

Sorry to the over 30s :-(
I've never really believed the no-carb/low carb thing, but it seems to work for so many people, so perhaps I'll give it a go. Although looking at my food diary, bread, potatoes and pasta are a huge part of my diet.
But I will embrace the lentil, the bean and the tofu and see how I get on.
Is porridge a carb?

Thanks Sez. Think I will try cutting down, but eating the brown version when I do have bread/pasta/rice.

I so wish that cheese and beer would make me thin.
